Bio

Hello! My name is Katheryn (Katie if you like) Glade.

Born in 1984 (which explains my love of neon hair and tights somewhat), I grew up in various cities, spending most of my childhood and teen years in North Carolina and the Chicago area.

In December of 2006 I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Northern Illinois University. Since then I have been making my way in the world, seeking my fortune and happiness.

At a young age I knew I wanted to be an artist. I was fortunate enough to have a family who nurtured and supported my love of everything artistic. Some of my fondest memories are of my father painting with me throughout childhood. He showed me what he had learned and allowed me to become wrapped up in his art books from when he had taken college art classes. When I was four years old, after a long and wonderful session with markers and crayons, I knew that I was going to do this for the rest of my days.

I also remember at age seven watching the screen of a popular arcade fighting game. As I watched one character rip the other characters spine out, I was hooked on video games. My love of video games and fantasy stories began making their way into my art, and has never been far from my mind.

Every day, I strive to be better and learn more as an artist. I find inspiration everywhere, and love learning from others. My dream is to continue to move forward in a career in concept art, contributing to a team to make a wonderful and creative project. With or without a team, I will continue creating art. We must do what makes us happy, what makes us whole. For me, that is concept art.
